Argentina Defeats Canada in Copa America Opener

Argentina began its defense of the Copa América title with a 2-0 victory against Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Monday.

Despite being outplayed for much of the match, Argentina managed to secure the victory thanks to goals from Lautaro Martínez and Ángel Di María in the second half.

Canada had the better chances in the first half, but Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez made several key saves to keep his team in the game. Argentina took the lead in the 64th minute when Martínez headed home a cross from Lionel Messi. Di María added a second goal in the 78th minute to seal the victory.

The win gives Argentina its first three points of the tournament, while Canada remains without a point after two matches.
